All information on accessibility
Arriving by train: There are direct connections from Bern (13 min), Olten (29 min), Solothurn (27 min), Thun (53 min) and Zurich (1 hr 10 min). It is a 15-minute walk through the old town from the station to the castle. The 461 bus will take you to Kronenplatz – which is a three-minute walk from the castle – every 15 minutes from 8 am – 11 pm.
Arriving by bike: Burgdorf is located on the famous ‘Herzroute’ cycle route from Lake Geneva to Lake Constance. The Emmental valley also offers other fantastic cycle routes such as the ‘Herzschlaufe Napf’. The castle mound has plenty of bike parking, and the castle has charging cables for e-bikes.
Arriving by car: Burgdorf is located 10 minutes from the A1 exit towards Kirchberg and is easily accessible from anywhere in Switzerland. There is no parking at the castle. Please use the Oberstadt car park or other parking facilities in the city.
Arriving by coach: Coaches may drop off and pick up their passengers at Kronenplatz, from there it is a 3-minute walk to the castle. Free parking for coaches is available at the Markthalle car park (coordinates: 47.053504, 7.629484). From there, the castle can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes.
