Invoicing and cancellation for group activities at the museum

  • The invoice will be sent to you after the event.
  • Cancellation is free up to 14 days before the event.
  • Cancellation up to two days before the event is subject to an administrative fee of CHF 150.
  • If a cancellation is made the day before the event, or in case of a no-show, the full fee will be charged.
  • If the museum is unable to carry out the activity, it will offer a replacement date. Activities cannot otherwise be substituted.

The participants are responsible for taking out insurance.

Burgdorf Castle house rules

Dear visitor,

Welcome to Burgdorf Castle! We are delighted to have you with us. To ensure your visit is a pleasant experience for you and all our guests, the castle has some binding house rules which you agree to on entering the castle premises.

  • All bags and backpacks larger than A4 size, as well as umbrellas, waterproofs and other bulky items, may not be taken into the museum and must be stored in the lockers or left in the cloakroom.
  • Teachers, group leaders and guardians are responsible for the appropriate behaviour of the children and young people in their care, and assume corresponding liability.
  • The objects on display may not be touched, damaged or otherwise interfered with. Visitors are liable for all damages incurred by improper behaviour.
  • All of the furnishings and interactive areas must be treated with care and left clean and tidy.
  • Food and drink are only permitted in the designated picnic areas or in the restaurant.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited everywhere in the castle (fire hazard). Smoking is only allowed by the marked ashtrays in the castle courtyard.
  • Pushchairs and large child carriers may not be taken into the exhibitions. There are designated spaces for leaving pushchairs and lightweight child carriers available for use.
  • Photography and filming for personal use without flash, lighting, tripods or selfie sticks is permitted in the exhibitions. No third parties may be recorded or disturbed in the process. Photography or recordings for commercial or editorial purposes require approval from the Burgdorf Castle museum.
  • Animals are not permitted in the exhibitions, with the exception of certified assistance dogs.
  • The museum uses video monitoring for security reasons.
  • Flying drones is prohibited throughout the castle and its grounds for security reasons.
  • The museum staff are responsible for ensuring compliance with the house rules and the safety of people and objects in the museum. Instructions from museum staff must be followed at all times.
  • Visitors who break the house rules after having received instructions not to do so may be banned from the museum.
